Grace Jones headlines issue 07 to celebrate 15 years of ‘Hurricane’.

It was an idea of Corporate Abuse, but abuse does not sing well. I was never comfortable with the word ‘abuse’ as a word that sounds good. I always was struggling with that,” Jones recalls. “And then Mark Van Eyck, who is an amazing poet, artist, painter, and a very good friend of Ivor’s, he just dropped the bomb: ‘cannibal’. I said, ‘Jesus,’ I swear to God, I got goosebumps. I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I think of that!?

After almost 2 decades since her previous record Bulletproof Heart, Grace Jones triumphantly returned in 2008 with her semi-autobiographical and critically acclaimed album Hurricane. To celebrate the 15th anniversary, Grace and Hurricane producer Ivor Guest join us for a huge special feature - to discuss how the album was written, recorded and toured. Both give a detailed analysis of the album, recall some of their favourite moments from the recording and reveal how Grace was motivated back into the studio.
